Electrolysis is a method of permanently removing individual hairs from the face or body. Today’s medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth centre of the hair with chemical and heat energy. After a very fine probe or needle is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers. There are three types of electrolysis; Galvanic, Thermolysis/Diathermy/Short Wave & Blend. Costs vary and are usually based between £1 – £2 per minute. There will need to be a number of treatments, depending on area of hair to be removed.
Having it for the first time?
Once you have discussed your requirements and expectations with the treatment practitioner, you will be asked your medical history and asked to sign a consent form. An anaesthetic cream is applied to the area. Then a wire/filament called a probe is inserted into the individual hair follicle. The treatment practitioner will then deliver the electric current; this may be a bit painful. No recovery time is necessary.
